About Absolute Music Chamber Series
Our Journey
Absolute Music Chamber Series blends music with community by adapting the traditional European soirée format to a modern setting.
The series developed from collaboration between Richard Sherman, Professor of Flute at Michigan State University and Kathy Holcomb, owner of Absolute Gallery in Old Town. Professor Sherman envisioned bringing classical music closer to the community. In Holcomb’s Absolute Gallery he found the setting for his vision: an intimate, acoustically superior space that could be transformed from gallery to performance hall, to a gathering place for informal discussion. Holcomb shared his vision, eager to bring music and vitality to Old Town, Lansing.
By 2017 the series had outgrown its original venue and settled into the newly opened UrbanBeat Events Center on Turner Street in Old Town.

We know you are here because you love high quality classical chamber music in an intimate and informal setting. Artistic Director Richard Sherman brings us a superb array of musical programs with outstanding musicians every season. We hope you enjoy them!
Five concerts will be held at the UrbanBeat Events Center in Old Town. WKAR concert guides Jamie Paisley, Jody Knol and Linda Kernohan will once again join us on concert evenings to enrich your experience.
We have upgraded our online ticketing experience and hope you will appreciate the ease of purchasing tickets to our performances this season. Ticket go on sale about 3 weeks prior to a concert. An email notice will be sent then.
